Description

The project develops a decorative Urdu display typeface, derived from motifs found in historic windows, doors, and wrought ironwork. These architectural elements contain repeating patterns and ornamental structures that inform the construction of the letterforms. The typeface uses a combination of thick and thin strokes to echo the visual rhythm of ironwork while maintaining clarity in digital formats. Designed for social media posts, reels, and headers, it balances ornamentation with legibility. The work addresses the limited presence of expressive Urdu typography in digital spaces. The project also considers future translation into installations, signage, and environmental graphics.
